EVENTS AND MEMBER DUTIES

MAIN CALENDAR
The Club could not function without members acting as Race Officer, Safety Boat Crew, Instructors, Catering Team, in maintenance work parties and in other roles, including the Committee. Volunteers are always welcome.
The duty rota and notifications are managed on the Dutyman Web site (click to login and use your forename and surname as the username)
A Quick Reference guide "How to login to Dutyman" is here.

This page displays the list of events and duties from today. Click here for a duty rota that displays the list of events and duties for the whole calendar year.

Duty Swapping Guide

When filling any gaps remaining after most club members have volunteered for duties on dates of their choice, it is inevitable some individuals will find they are rostered on days for which they already have commitments. When this occurs, it is important to re-allocate duties reliably while avoiding an unmanageable administrative burden on the volunteers who look after the roster.

The Dutyman system has a user-friendly interface for requesting swaps and this should be used in the first instance. Simply log into Dutyman, click on the 'Request a duty swap' link, and follow the instructions.

Please only contact the Dutyman administrator to swap duties in the following circumstances:
  • You have requested a duty swap through Dutyman but you are unable to swap because you are not free on any of the available dates.
  • You would like to swap for a duty that has not yet been allocated (it is not possible to swap with a 'blank' duty through Dutyman).
  • You would like to be removed from an allocated duty and for a specific reason feel unable to undertake a replacement.
Thank you for following these guidelines, which help minimize issues with swaps and reduce the workload for the volunteers managing the Dutyman system.

DUTY ROSTER FAQ:

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is DutyMan?
DutyMan is an internet based service providing a database of members and a list of events and assosciated duties that are either volunteered for by members or allocated to members by the club. This page provides links to the system which is password protected at member level.

How do I access DutyMan?
Click this link to Dutyman.
Each member has a login based on their email address and a password. Alternatively on login you can ask for a login link to be sent to your email address. If you need assistance using the Dutyman system, please contact [email protected].

Is there a minimum number of duties that I'm expected to fulfill?
No, there is no minimum or maximum number of duties required. Please feel free to volunteer as much as you can—every contribution is appreciated by the club. Your membership record includes fields that you can use to state your preferred roles for volunteering.

Who can volunteer for Safety Officer, Assistant Safety Officer, and Race Officer duties?
Any member can volunteer for these roles, though some experience and training are required for Safety Officer positions. For more information, contact:
  ●       Sailing-related duties: [email protected]
  ●       Training opportunities: [email protected]

How are duties filled?
Before the sailing season begins the club allocates duties based on members' preferences recorded in their membership record within the DutyMan system.
Safety Officer duties are filled based on the following qualifications requirements being held:
  ●       RYA PBL2 or equivalent.
  ●       Ideally RYA Safety Boat or Club SO course but not essential.
(Powerboat Instructors will encourage those without much experience to attend refresher sessions during the season)

Can I swap duties?
You can swap duties or volunteer for different ones through the Dutyman system and guidance is provided above..

Can I volunteer for something else?
Absolutely! There are various ways to contribute to the club. Volunteering is highly valued.
  ●       For catering, please contact the Social Convener at [email protected].
  ●       For other opportunities, contact the Club Board at [email protected].
Or speak to a Board member.

What happens if a duty remains unfilled?
The Sailing Sub-Committee will encourage members to step forward. If a duty is still unfilled on the day of the event, it must be covered by attendees, or the event will not proceed.
