UPDATE

With support from the Gordon and Ena Baxter Foundation, Highland Council Ward Discretionary Fund and member donations and fundraising we have purchased our first RS Quest. It's proving a really useful addition to the fleet. We continue to fundraise for our second Quest which we hope to be able to purchase for the 2024 season.

QUEST FOR TWO NEW CLUB DINGHIES

Family enjoying RS Quest dinghy
After exploring many options, the RS Quest has been identified as meeting our needs. The RS Quests will be ideal for our training programme and, like all our club boats will be available for members' use when not required for training.
Chanonry Sailing Club is raising funds to purchase two RS Quest Dinghies to replace the Wanderers, our two existing double-hander dinghies.

The RS Quests provide a very wide range of uses. They are great for teaching and can take several adults plus an instructor in the boat, or they can be used by families and are well suited to day-sailing trips. In addition, they offer a trapeze and asymmetric spinnaker which allows us to help sailors of all ages progress to more advanced skills. The RS Quests are also quicker and easier to rig and to launch, providing more time on the water for our members.
Chanonry Sailing Club has recently joined the RYA OnBoard programme. This is an approach to teaching sailing using a method that helps youngsters (8 - 18) develop 6 key attributes: creativity, teamwork, communication, determination, independence and confidence within the framework of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. The RS Quests will be invaluable assets to help develop these key life-skills. Quests are spacious and stable, and will be ideal for building confidence and accommodating those who find the smaller boats challenging to move about in.

Donate

The cost of a second RS Quest is around £11,000. We will apply for grants but we need to raise funds to match the grants. Donate here to help make it happen.
