FORTROSE HARBOUR
SATURDAY 21st JULY
Dear Members,
I am sure all of us would agree that the RNLI is a Charity well worthy of the support of a Sailing Club!
Next weekend is our Sailing Club’s opportunity to show our appreciation and support of the sterling and indeed essential work the RNLI Crews and fundraisers do year in and year out. As the coordinator of this year’s event I am writing to ask you to try to be involved in some way with the event.
FRIDAY EVENING
Clubhouse and dinghy park tidy-up, please come to help from 7pm onwards.
SATURDAY
Due to the tides, the day will run roughly from 10.30am till 4.00pm and events are as follows:
RNLI sales and food in Upstairs Hall all day
0930-1030 Setup - banners, bunting, rig dinghies for exhibition and help RNLI ladies where required.
Lifeboats in harbour approx 90mins either side of high tide (approx 14.40). Both Kessock and Invergordon Lifeboats hope to be able to come into the harbour and members of the public can see around them and chat to the crews.
Harbouring Heritage Slide Show all day in the Downstairs/ Race office
Harbouring Heritage Walks starting at 12.00, 14.00, and15.00 if there is demand.
RIB Rides in Fortrose Bay
RYA Push The Boat Out activity – there will be a variety of dinghies on display ashore with club members on hand to explain the different types.
Avoch Sea Scouts will be be demonstrating various water sports in the harbour including kayaking.
RYA Sail For Gold event
There will be Junior/ youth dinghy races starting at 2pm, enter on the day. The course will be short with racing lasting about 1 hour. All boats to capsize before the finish. There will be prizes, including or Best capsize, Best Dressed Crew/ Boat. Prizegiving at 3.30.
Finally in order to raise the maximum funds , please bring the family and friends along for what I hope will be an enjoyable and worthwhile day.
