Covid-19 pandemic - update 2

24/3/2020

Further to our communications in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic the Chanonry Sailing Club Committee would like to update members in relation to the ongoing and fast evolving situation.

The Committee has considered the UK government announcement on Monday the 23rd March, which states that:
“…people will only be allowed to leave their home for the following very limited purposes:
·       Shopping for basic necessities, as infrequently as possible
·       One form of exercise a day - for example a run, walk, or cycle - alone or with members of your household
·       Any medical need, to provide care or to help a vulnerable person; and
·       Travelling to and from work, but only where this is absolutely necessary and cannot be done from home.”

In addition to the previously announced suspension, postponement or cancellation of club activities, we now ask that:

-      Members do not enter the Clubhouse until further notice.

-      As exceptions the Committee authorises: continuing monthly safety inspections, periodic collection of mail by Committee members and the accessing of the Clubhouse to borrow the projector for a Covid-19 related presentation to a community support team being run by a club member.

A revised notice will be pinned to the Club door to reflect this situation.

A separate notice will be placed on the sail store/ emergency exit door regarding the water seepage from the public road opposite the clubhouse; this seepage has previously been drawn to the attention of Scottish Water by the Committee. Scottish Water have tested the seepage and confirmed it is not chlorinated and is therefore not from a water main leak; it is ground water seeping up through the public road.

Club members should feel they can reach out to each other, through email and social media should they need support in these difficult times.

As the situation is fast evolving, we will continue to review advice regularly and our position may change at short notice - hence please continue to keep an eye on the Club calendar, social media and your email account.

Regards,

Your Club Committee

Quiz Night

2/3/2020

Our annual quiz night is 6 March 2020. It's a night of fun, food and fairly random questions which is not be missed. Food will be served at half time and will be Syrian/middle Eastern this year, and is sure to be the highlight of the evening.

Teams are of four to six but we're fairly relaxed about team numbers and can match teams up on the day. Cost £10 per person. The bar will be open and there will be a raffle.

Booking essential with social@chanonry.org.uk. It was a sell out last year. Bar open from 6:30, quiz starts 7:30 prompt.

2020 SEASON DUTY ROSTER

1/3/2020

Dear Members

Our Dutyman roster system is updated for the coming season.
No duties are allocated to the membership without asking.

Your volunteering really helps our club. Thank you very much for your help!

The sailing programme should reflect the sailing which you want to participate in.
Hopefully you should then feel able to contribute to the organisation of the events.
If it does not, the Sailing Sub Committee would like to help facilitate your suggestions.

Sailwave (Digital Scoring System)

1/3/2020

Dear Race Officers

The Sailwave digital scoring system is the preferred method for results scoring/recording at Chanonry Sailing Club. Using it will save some work for the Sailing Secretary and their helpers. Instructions are available beside the computer.

The main benefits of using Sailwave are:
  1. Results, recorded in Sailwave, will be published online without major delay depending on the workload of webmaster(s) at the time.
  2. Calculations will be much more reliable and can be checked easily.
  3. Duty points can be easily managed.
  4. Series discards and outcomes will be very much more reliably calculated.

Sailwave series files are set up for you as are the current RYA PY numbers / handicaps.

All you need is to record the following data as the races proceed on the Recording Sheets provided in the Race Office and then enter it in Sailwave for the current series/event:
  1. Date,
  2. Start time,
  3. Helm/Crew name(s),
  4. Boat Class,
  5. Sail number,
  6. Number of Laps; and
  7. Finish Time.

If you are not familiar with Sailwave, please ask competitors for help.

Thank you.
