EVENTS 2008
LIFEBOAT DAY AND RNLI NESS CUP
Saturday 21 June
In 2008 we are combining our Lifeboat Day with the RNLI Ness Cup. The local
RNLI committee will provide refreshments and stalls. Demonstrations from the
RNLI and Coastguard are being planned and we hope that the Avoch Dolphin
Boat will provide trips for the Public. Afterwards there will be a Social
event for Club members.
The race is traditionally a long-distance open event for
dinghies and cruisers sailing together over the same course. Typically
the course involves racing to a mark near Kilmuir or the Kessock Bridge and
returning to the harbour around navigation marks on the south side of the
Firth. An entry fee is levied and goes to the RNLI. The start time (11.00)
is designed to catch the tide and allow for some festivity/recovery/airing
of excuses at the Clubhouse after the race.
We look forward to celebrating mid-summer together.
CSC ANNUAL REGATTA
Saturday/Sunday 2/3 August
INCORPORATING THE NORTH OF SCOTLAND DINGHY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Our 2008 Regatta will include Cruiser Racing with dinghy class travellers
for Merlin Rocket, Europe, RS 300s, Scottish Skiffs, slow and fast handicap
classes and a separate course for inexperienced sailors run from the
Starter’s Box. It will be a busy weekend on the water and all offers of help
from members who do not plan to compete will be greatly appreciated.
This year we will be incorporating the North
of Scotland Dinghy Championships. Further details will be published in the
Notice of Race.
Up to six races are programmed; the division
of classes depends on entries. The Race Officer will normally designate fast
and slow handicap starts with other class starts depending on numbers.
Individual class prizes will be awarded depending on the number of entries.
Food is laid on throughout the two days in the
Clubhouse and a substantial evening meal is provided on the Saturday and the
bar is open for the evening.
CLUB, LADIES, NOVICE AND JUNIOR
CHAMPIONSHIP
Sunday 21 September
This is a one-day competition over 3 or 4 races (weather dependent) to
decide the 2007 Club, Ladies, Novice and Junior Champions. This is a popular
and keenly contested event.
