Child Involvement
All children under 18 (unless taking part in a formal training course) must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or a responsible adult (i.e. a person 18 or over) who is in loco parentis for the child(ren). It will not be acceptable for parents to drop their children off and assume that the person organising the event is automatically responsible for the welfare of unaccompanied children. This policy has been implemented based upon advice received from RYA Scotland and is believed to be in the best interests of both the children and the Club. The co-operation of all parents in this matter will be appreciated.
Child Protection
The Club applies the Child Protection guidelines given by the Highland Council in their publication “Child Protection Policies for your Community Group” (Edition 3). There is a copy of this policy in the Race Office on the ground floor of the Clubhouse. Details for the Club's Child Protection Monitor are on the Committee page. If you have concerns that a child is at risk or is being abused in any way, you must contact the Child Protection Monitor. The NSPCC also has a confidential telephone help line for adults who are concerned that a child has been abused on 0808 800 5000. Children who feel at risk can ring the confidential Childline for advice on 0800 11 11.
